School Nurse Opening

2026-2027 School Year

Sharon Elementary is seeking an energetic, experienced & caring school nurse for a full-time school year position.  This person will be attending to student nursing needs across grades PreK-6th Grade.

Responsibilities of the school nurse include: 

  • Providing nursing assessment, treatment,  first aid and emergency care
  • Administering and monitoring medications taken at school; as well as train staff members in this process as needed;
  • Maintaining comprehensive and confidential student health records that are compliant with federal, state and local regulations. Must remain proficient in current technology for health record databases used throughout the district.
  • Managing communicable diseases.
  • Assessing and planning for students with health related concerns which may affect learning
  • Communicating with families and staff regarding health related issues
  • Providing families with health-related resources and referrals
  • Promoting school wide wellness through health education

Qualified Individuals should possess:

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)

•Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid Vermont Educator’s License with a 3-65 school nurse endorsement.

•Hold a valid license as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Vermont.

•Current Certification in CPR.

•Three years of clinical nursing experience beyond nursing education

•Completion of an educational orientation program provided through the Agency of Education and based on the requirements for delivery of health services as defined in the Vermont School Quality Standards and the Vermont manual titled Standards of Practice: School Health Services.

Aftercare Employee

2026-2027 School Year

Sharon Elementary School is seeking an aftercare employee to work in our Pre-K program for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year.

This position will be from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm daily. Aftercare takes place from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Between the hours of 11:30 am and 3:00 pm, the candidate will assist with Pre-K staff break coverage and various Pre-K classroom duties and support. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of the social-emotional development of children ages 3-5. This is a child-centered program where art, outdoor play, math, and literature are valued. A focus on restorative practices and social/emotional learning is a must.

PRE-K PARAEDUCATOR

2026-2027 School Year

Sharon Elementary School is currently seeking a preschool paraeducator to work with a classroom teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. We are currently seeking a candidate who has experience working with preschool students. The ideal candidate will have a love of children, an understanding of play-based learning, and knowledge about early childhood development. Here at Sharon Elementary School, we focus on outdoor education, experiential learning, and place-based learning. This is a full-time position with benefits included.

7.3.2.3 Teacher Assistant

A teacher assistant is at least eighteen (18) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications:

• At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One (1) or Two (2) Certificate; or

• At least a current CDA (Child Development Associate) and at least twelve (12) months of experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

• At least a State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood education, and at least twelve (12) months of experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

• At least successful completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals’ course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and at least twelve (12) months of experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

• At least successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child or human development or a three (3) college credit course for school-age care and education, and at least twelve (12) months of experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.
